Hiking the Hidden Trails of Breakneck Ridge & Sugarloaf Mountain

Loading Experiences

Start your summer off right with one of the most picturesque hikes in all of New York state.

Join New York Adventure Club for a 5.5 mile guided hike up Breakneck Ridge and Sugarloaf Mountain, one of the more challenging hikes in the East Hudson Highlands.

Led by veteran hiking guide Kyle Irwin, who is extremely familiar with the Breakneck Ridge trails and Wilderness First Aid & CPR certified, our active experience will include:

  • A trailhead introduction and discussion about the history of the region.
  • Rock scrambling tips, strategies, and assistance to successfully climb the toughest section of Breakneck Ridge.
  • Navigation to spectacular views of the Hudson River and surrounding areas, from the top of both Sugarloaf Mountain and Breakneck Ridge.
  • Guided access to an off-the-beaten-path trail loop that only resident hikers know about.

This hike should take around 4 hours, so please bring comfortable shoes, water, a packed lunch, and snacks.

Afterward, we’ll grab some food & drinks at a local eatery in neighboring Cold Springs, NY, so come join!

*While this hike is designed for all skill levels, and led by a veteran hiker to assist along the way, please note that the beginning portion is one of the steeper and more technical trails in the area.*

**This ticket does not include transportation— please see below for more details.
