Join New York Adventure Club for a private exploration of the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art, the former residence of famous 19th-century child actor Jacques Marchais, which resembles an authentic Tibetan mountain monastery.
Our special experience, conducted before the museum opens to the public, will include:
- An overview of pioneering American woman Jacques Marchais (1887-1948), an important collector and respected expert on Tibetan art.
- The history and story surrounding the 1945 house designed by Marchais, which sits on Staten Island’s Lighthouse Hill, one of the highest points on the eastern seaboard.
- A look inside the first Himalayan-style buildings to be built in the United States, which also served as the first Museum world devoted solely to Tibetan art.
